The customer had looked at an off-the-shelf solution to the problem of getting two major building contracts online but these did not have the flexibility required to deal with the complex forms and inter-relationships within the forms.
They approached us and we came up with a custom-built solution which not only gave them the flexibility they required but also allows them to add further contracts to the system in the future.
Working from the paper contracts, we had to ensure that the system was as user-friendly as possible so that any building contractor could go online and easily use the system.
Online applications such as this are going to be used by a wide variety of people. Some may be technically aware but there will be others who are not as comfortable with technology. It is therefore important to ensure that the applications are made as user-friendly as possible.
Our experience means that we know how to make things work online and for the CIP Contracts application, we mapped out how best to translate the printed book into an online format that would be usable by CIP's customers.
With online applications, this often means a big move away from how it works offline. And the CIP case was no exception. The application is currently undergoing beta testing and so far the feedback has been very encouraging.
