Flash

If a site requires interactive multimedia content we can produce sections in Flash. As an example, take a look at the sustainability wheel we produced for Skanska (see more on the right).

Flash uses a powerful scripting language that presents web designers with an infinite number of possibilities for the production of rich content.

It has to be used with care; as it is a creative tool, some designers like to use Flash to the detriment of the client. It is less expensive and easier to produce a website by 'traditional' means (i.e. HTML) and also easier to keep such a site updated particularly if the site has high levels of functionality (e.g. database-driven sites). However, Flash comes into its own when animated dynamic content is required. If we feel that Flash is the technology that can do the job for you then we'll recommend it but we won't use it for the sake of it or because it happens to be fun to design in Flash.

Flash Criteria

It's also important to bear in mind that Flash requires the user to have the Flash Player installed. Whilst most users will have the player, there may be some in your audience that will not or some that will have an outdated version.
